2016 FAIR WILL LIVE ON!
The 92nd Unionville Community Fair will live on after a successful "Save the Fair" meeting on February 17, 2016. Deb Deckman stepped forward and agreed to serve as the fair board's next president, and Jeff Lewis agreed to serve as the Fair's next treasurer. The fair board was happy to see about 50 community minded individuals come out to preserve the past and invest in the future of the fair. These two officers were officially elected at the scheduled board meeting on February 24, 2016.
Deb Deckman lives in West Grove but has deep roots in Unionville and the fair. Her husband Matthew's grandparents were part of the fair since the beginning. Grandmother Laura (Case) Deckman was the fourth Unionville Fair Queen. Many fairgoers remember Fred Deckman's homemade matchbox cars. Matthew Deckman's parents are Joe and Lori (Johnson), both Unionville grads. Joe Deckman introduced Fred and Laura Deckman when the fair was dedicated to them several years ago. Jeff Lewis, our new treasurer, is new to this area and wanted to get involved to give back to the community.
Another step forward made by the board is the first- time hiring of a paid fair manager, Pam Eppinger. This position was created to help the Fair run more smoothly by providing continuity and relief for new incoming board members. Eppinger knows the Unionville School District well, having provided educational support to students in the district. Pam also has experience working with other non-profit organizations.
Tara Soto Regester was newly appointed to the board at the last meeting. Berta Rains resigned from the board leaving another vacancy. Danielle Chamberlain and David Pritchard, outgoing treasurer, will remain on the board of directors.
